For the love of driving

The story of our trip to Litchfield to have our GT3 Touring lead car updated with the newer ST chassis / suspension upgrade including a YouTube film of our full thoughts before and after the works were completed. The S/T chassis upgrade, brings the acclaimed suspension and steering calibration refinements from Porsche’s ultra rare 992 S/T directly to your 992.1 GT3.

For background purposes, we use the car predominately for road use on our tours in both the UK and Europe so we have clocked up 9000 miles in the car in 16 months. Our car is a later version of the GT3 suspension iterations so the difference isn’t as pronounced as it would be with an early car. It is still noticeable for us and has removed the harshness that we used to get and made the car a much more pleasant place to be!

Whilst I have a lot of experience in these cars, leading tours and doing track days over the last 10 years, I also have a long rallying history all the way to British Championship level, and understand how a car setup changes the feel and this is a great step forward.

Please Note: This video contains my personal views and must be treated as such, please speak to the guys at Litchfield and I’m sure they will be able to help you make up your mind.

This upgrades is definitely a win in every way for the GT3 as a road car and whilst I haven’t tested it yet. I’m convinced however that it wont affect that really and will still be a fantastic track car as you don’t lose the stiffer damper settings available on the PDCC.

We also opted to have the ST damper software and fast road wheel alignment as well as the ST spoiler upgrade with the gurney flap added and the software set to activate the spoiler at 120kph and not 80kph.

This is really an ascetic upgrade thats really worth doing if you like to keep that infamous 911 silhouette but you have to have the gurney flap which is a genuine Porsche part off the ST. It is just a black plastic part and not carbon but on our GT Silver car it looks perfect with the contrasting diffuser anyway!
