For the love of driving

October 2018 was our inaugural drive day with an early morning run to the North Coast of Cornwall following a great route on some fantastic roads….

It was an early start from St Mellion Int Golf Club where everyone met up ready for the 7.30am departure to Lewinnick Lodge in Newquay for our breakfasts. We had a great selection of 16 cars for this with quite a few Porsche of various types, inc 2 x 991 Gen2 GT3’s, a GT4, a couple of older variants as well, which were a great contrast to the ultra-modern looks of the brand new 720s Mclaren and the DB11 that also joined us.

The route headed west from Callington towards Plusha where we joined the A39 Atlantic coast highway towards Wadebridge and onto Winnards Perch where we indicated right, to the great “B” road section around St Eval and Mawgan Porth.

The scenic coast road through Watergate Bay, that makes up the closed road hill climb in September, led us to our breakfast stop at Lewinnick Lodge in Newquay. The convoy of cars through the town centre certainly turned a few heads, with both kids and adults loving the procession along the beach road.

After breakfast, we headed back out of Newquay on the twisty B roads around St Dennis and the clay pits of St Austell, before rejoining the A30 to give everyone the chance to open up the throttle and have a blast back to the A38 to head home via Liskeard.
