The Pyrenees & Alps Coast to Coast Tour is an 8-night road trip that takes in both the Pyrenees and the Southern Alps, and also provides you with the opportunity, if you wish, to attend the first of the European F1 doubleheaders in Spain and Monaco.

Starting in Portsmouth with an overnight crossing to Saint-Malo, the 1750 mile road trip to Nice, takes us on many of the classic Cols in the Pyrenees, as well as many of their lesser-known cousins!

This tour includes a great selection of 4/5* hotels, starting in the coastal city of Biarritz before heading into the mountains and across to the historic racing city of Pau. Leaving Pau the route heads through the heart of the Pyrenees to the tax-free haven that is Andorra, la Vella.

Sunday is race day, and following a great drive down to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya from Andorra, you’ll have your first chance to enjoy the new spec F1 cars live at the Spanish GP 2022 (Parking ticket plus 2 x entry tickets included).

We will then begin our route north up to the Southern Alps, with one last run through the ‘Pyrenees Catalanes’ to reach our hotel near Montpelier.

Our penultimate day takes us through the ‘Gorges du Verdon,’ before reaching our hotel on Nice’s seafront boulevard for the last 2 nights of the tour.

The final day’s roads feature on many peoples bucket lists and include those around the infamous Col du Turini, as well as parts of the Red Rock road, guaranteed to make this Grand Tour a road adventure to remember forever.

Itinerary

Pyrenees & Alps
Coast to Coast Tour

Wednesday 18th | Arrive at Portsmouth: Ferry crossing to Saint-Malo with a cabin. If you wish to make alternative arrangements to cross the channel, i.e. via the ‘EuroTunnel,’ at your cost, we can discount the tour by £300.

Thursday 19th | 7 hour drive 455 Miles: Transit day driving south through France on the quickest route to the South West city of Biarritz, to our first beachside hotel of the tour - the 5* Sofitel Biarritz Le Miramar Thalassa. Dinner is included at the hotel.

Friday 20th | 6.5 hour drive 200 Miles: The journey across the Pyrenees on route to Pau, the home of another historic race circuit, begins with some lesser-known roads and passes on route to the Beaumont Pau 5* hotel, which is situated on the side of the Pau historic race track. Dinner is included at the hotel.

Saturday 21st | 6.5 hour drive 230 Miles:  The Col Du Tourmalet is first up, before heading east on some of the less travelled roads of the Pyrenees. These include the Col de Val Louron-Azet, and the Col De Peyresourde to name a couple, before reaching the overnight stop at The 5*Hotel Plaza in Andorra La Vella. It’s a little longer behind the wheel than we’d like, but it’s basically one hell of a route all the way from Pau to Andorra, and we wouldn’t want you to miss any of it! Dinner is at your leisure, the hotel’s central location in Andorra La Vella provides plenty of choices.

Sunday 22nd | 2.5 hour drive 120 miles: We will be leaving Sunday morning for a great drive down to reach Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, to park up ready for the F1 race at 3pm (provisional lights out time). If you wish to leave early so you catch all the support races, feel free to do so, or if you wish to skip the GP altogether to relax in the spring sunshine, it’s your holiday, we will catch up in the bar later on.

F1 circuit to Marina| 30 Min drive 20 miles: Leaving the F1 circuit we will head for the 5* Eurostars Grand Marina Hotel Barcelona, located close to the famous ‘Las Ramblas,’ where you may just spot a few famous boats in town for the GP. Dinner is again at your leisure, there are lots of choices for some great tapas close to the hotel in the marina, as well as in ‘Las Ramblas’ itself.

Monday 23rd | 6 Hour Drive 300 Miles: After leaving Barcelona, we’ll be heading north towards the southern alps. The days’ route includes some great roads north through the Pyrenees Catalanes region, and onto the French Riviera near Montpellier to our hotel, the 4* Le Spinaker at Le Grau-du-Roi. If you wish to have a shorter day behind the wheel and relax on “The Deck” at the hotel and maybe enjoy some oysters from the bar, you could head directly to the hotel from Barcelona, and shorten the day to a 230 mile, 3.5 hour drive. Dinner is included at the hotel.

Tuesday 24th | 5.5 Hour drive 245 Miles: Leaving the marina in Le Grau-du-Roi, we will head inland in the direction of the ‘Gorges du Verdon,’ as well as one of ‘Harry’s Garage’s favourite roads up to Cannes, before reaching our final hotel of the tour in Nice. Located on the seafront, the Radisson Blu 4* is a great location to spend the last 2 nights of the tour, in the upgraded sea view rooms overlooking the stunning Mediterranean. Dinner is at your leisure, with options available in both the hotel or along the seafront boulevard.

Wednesday 25th | 5 Hour drive 170 Miles
The final day could be a ‘chill-out’ day or a chance to leave your partner by the pool if they fancy some sun, or you can take on the classic ‘Monte Carlo Rally’ routes around the Col du Turini, before reaching the tour finish line back in *Nice on Wednesday night. Then it’s time for a few beers, a final alfresco group dinner (location to be confirmed) and a chance to chat over your highlights of the past 7 days!

Options: You could extend your stay to take in the spectacle that is the **Monaco F1 GP, or maybe you want to use the opportunity to just chill out for a few days in the sun after a tough week of driving before you fly home. Please get in touch if you want more information on the options available and prices for extensions.

*Nice is where we will rendezvous with our transport partners EM Rogers, to load the cars to be securely shipped back to the UK in their fully covered transporters. If you’d rather not ship your car home and would like to drive, we can discount the tour by the cost of the transport @ £1100 per car. The price of £1100 is based on 6 cars being loaded per truck, if its less than 6 the price will be shared equally. This fee includes the EM Rogers processing fee of £450 to complete and submit all the paperwork requirements for transporting cars in and out of the UK since Brexit.

**Tickets and accommodation are not included with the tour pricing to attend the Monaco GP, but various packages can be sourced for you to include both hotels and tickets. All subject to availability, so if you are interested please book early to avoid disappointment.
